Nectarine flat
The word ‘Nectarines’ means sweet as nectar. Also called 'donut nectarines' or ' Saturn nectarines'. Nectarines are a type of peach without the fuzzy skin: both are stone fruits but nectarines are usually smaller in size with stronger aromas than peaches. While peaches are more appropriate for baking and softer-textured recipes, nectarines stay firm while cooking.
Peaches and nectarines will continue to ripen after they've been harvested if you leave them at room temperature. They should never be refrigerated until they are fully ripe. Chilling them before that will result in the fruit loosing flavour.
In season from late June through September.
